OUTDOOR CHEF KURT GOES DEEP for ALASKAN SPOT PRAWNS
For 2 summers I worked at fishing lodges on the Inside Passage of Alaska. Dunginess crab were abundant at shallow depths but the spot prawns were deep water creatures
375 to 450 foot deep water is where they were most abundant .
Using a depth finder to find the good spots was essential as they liked a downward slope.
I waited in anticipation for the trap to come to the surface to see if we got any .I dreamed of them sizzling away in a pan with butter and garlic on a CAMP CHEF SINGLE BURNER STOVE on the back deck of my room at the lodge .
If you ever get to Alaska and get out on the Inside Passage make sure you put getting some spot prawns on the top of your to do list.
