The New Ultra Trekker is really a smaller version of the cable chains used on your car. If you remember using the old chains and how great it was to change to a cable style chains. They are much more compact and easy to carry and they have more edges touching the ice or snow.
The keep to gripping on ice is to cut into the surface for a grip. This cleat goes over whatever shoe you are wearing and at first glance may look like a Yak Trax. It is is much more durable and should last much longer because of the design. The beads actually turn to move out snow and ice that gets stuck in the shoe. This also rotates so that more edges touch.
The Ultra Ice Trekkers are going to be available this Fall from many retailers, we will do a field test update as we get to test on ice.
